July 12, 2018- National news broke this week that former Ohio State University wrestling team doctor, Dr. Richard Strauss, routinely sexually abused members of the wrestling team. The allegations implicate prominent GOP Congressman Jim Jordan, who was the head wrestling coach at the time, and Ohio State University officials for failing to stop Strauss and protect students. The abuse began in the mid-1970s, lasting until the late 1990s. Multiple team members alleged that they disclosed the abuse to Rep. Jordan during that time while he was head coach of the wrestling team. Representative Jordan denied knowledge of the abuse.
“Locker Room Talk”
Former wrestlers claim that it was virtually impossible for Rep. Jordan not to have known about the abuse. One former team member reported to CNN that teammates were always “joking about it.”
Representative Jordan recently contradicted his prior claim that he was not aware of the abuse when he told Fox News Commentator Bret Baier that “conversations in a locker room are a lot different than allegations of abuse.”
