November 19, 2018- Kohn, Swift & Graf is currently investigating Walmart for allegedly overcharging customers for sales tax when coupons are used.
ATTENTION COUPON USERS
It has been alleged that Walmart does not calculate the sales tax based on the total amount before the coupons are applied. Walmart customers claim that when they use a coupon, the company fails to calculate the sales tax based on the reduced sales total after a coupon is applied. Instead, Walmart charges sales tax based on the pre-coupon amount.
Retailers are supposed to calculate sales tax based on the “purchase price” after all discounts are applied, including coupons.
If you or someone you knows has used or is currently using coupons when shopping at a Walmart store in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Missouri, or Texas, and the store calculated the sales tax based on the purchase price before the coupon(s) are applied, please contact us. All consultations are free of charge. You may be eligible to be included in a Class Action Lawsuit.
