TurboTax Fails to Disclose Free Filing

May 16, 2019- Kohn, Swift & Graf, P.C. is currently investigating Intuit for failing to disclose their free filing options to TurboTax customers.

TurboTax Redirects Customers Away from Free Filing Options

Intuit is part of a group called the Free File Alliance, which provides free online tax filing options to the lowest 70% of all taxpayers in America. It has been alleged that Intuit intentionally diverts TurboTax customers from the Free File Alliance option and instead pushes customers to purchase their paid filing services.

According to the IRS, approximately 100 million individuals qualify for free filing through the Free File Alliance; however, only 3% of these individuals have used the valuable resource. It’s been further alleged that Intuit breached its agreement with the IRS under the free-file program by diverting taxpayers away from its free-filing program.
