First American Financial Exposes Data of Millions

May 31, 2019- Kohn, Swift & Graf is currently investigating the multibillion-dollar corporation, First American Financial, for exposing the data of millions of customers.

Lack of Security Exposes Data for Millions of Customers

It’s been alleged that First American Financial left more than 885 million sensitive documents dating as far back as 2003 exposed online. The corporation’s website allowed anyone to gain access to sensitive documents without needing a password or any sort of authentication; therefore, the information was available to anyone that knew or guessed the correct URL.

It was further alleged that the exposed files contained bank account numbers, bank statements, mortgage records, tax documents, wire transfer receipts, Social Security numbers, and photos of driver’s licenses. While the situation is not a data breach, the company did leave sensitive information available for third parties to view, further violating their privacy policy.
