Federal Judge Rejects City’s Attempt to Dismiss Courtesy Tow Lawsuits, Aarthi Manohar Quoted
A federal judge denied the City of Philadelphia’s motions to dismiss two lawsuits aimed at what the plaintiffs allege are the city’s illegal “courtesy” tow practices. The Court directed the parties to try to mediate a resolution of the lawsuits.
The lawsuits were filed in May 2021 and December 2022 by Kohn Swift on behalf of people who ran afoul of so-called “courtesy” towing by the city. Plaintiffs seek compensation and reformation of the City’s “courtesy” tow system and practices.
The Philadelphia Inquirer covered the latest developments in the article ‘Nobody is safe’ Philly officials refuse to fix courtesy-tow problem as class-action lawsuits proceed, which features a quote about the lawsuit by Kohn Swift attorney Aarthi Manohar.
