LYFT sending unauthorized texts seeking riders is bad marketing and a violation
Lyft, similar to Uber, is a ride-sharing company. Lyft expanded its Concierge program in January, which is essentially a service that allows organizations to schedule rides for other people. The program allows business to hail rides for its customers, patients and employees. To use the service, the business or organization has to create a Lyft Business account and attach a payment card to be used for the rides that they book.
The Concierge program supposedly collects cellphone numbers from customers of third-party entities without the subscribers’ consent; therefore, violating the TCPA when sending text messages.
