Navient Fails to Disclose Payment Options for Loans

November 28, 2018- Kohn, Swift & Graf is currently investigating the student loan servicing company, Navient, for allegedly deceiving borrowers into more costly repayment plans.

The student loan firm was alleged of engaging in deceptive practices by failing to properly inform borrowers of cheaper payment options. In 2017, the U.S. Department of Education uncovered evidence that Navient representatives allowed borrowers to enroll in payment plans without disclosing other options that were less expensive.

According to a copy of the audit obtained by The Associated Press, tens of thousands of customers may have faced higher costs as a result of Navient’s practices. It has been further alleged that Navient’s failure to properly inform borrowers of cheaper payment options added nearly $4 billion in interest to their debts.
