May 15, 2019- Kohn, Swift & Graf, P.C. is currently investigating claims against the maker of Amazon Alexa line of smart speakers for employing human employees who may sporadically listen to in-home conversations even when the home user has not requested assistance from Alexa.
Are your private conversations, actually private?
It has been alleged that information gathered on Amazon’s internal operations suggests that the company employs thousands of people around the world to manually transcribe input from Amazon speakers in an ongoing effort to refine the accuracy of the device. The company claims that Amazon workers listen in to help make its artificial intelligence, “Alexa”, smarter.
Since the speaker has the ability to “listen” to in-home conversations and/or activity, internal reports suggest that Amazon employees may have access to certain information depending on the content of in-home conversations.
